Bill W. Sanford


Bill W. Sanford is an experienced trial attorney with over 35 jury trials to verdict, the majority of which he served as first chair, lead counsel. Before moving to the Houston area, Mr. Sanford practiced civil litigation primarily in Jefferson and Orange Counties. He has also tried cases in Chambers, Hardin, Jasper and Tyler Counties. His practice includes defending individuals and corporations in various areas of the law including: general liability, product defects, automobile and 18-wheel accident cases, premises liability, contract and lease agreement disputes, dangerous animal and dog bite cases, first party insurance defense, and hurricane damage cases. Mr. Sanford’s practical courtroom experience permits him to aggressively defend his clients, understand the strengths and weaknesses of a case, and evaluate potential outcomes and jury perception so he can adequately counsel and represent his clients.

Mr. Sanford earned a Bachelors of Science degree in Communications from Lamar University—Beaumont in 1999. He graduated magna cum laude, made the Dean’s list from 1997 to 1999, and was a member of the Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society. Subsequently, Mr. Sanford received his Doctor of Jurisprudence from St. Mary’s University School of Law in 2003. While there, he was inducted into the Phi Delta Phi Honor Society, and served as an associate editor for the St. Mary’s Law Journal where he was published twice at 33 St. Mary’s L.J. 549 (2002) and 34 St. Mary’s L.J. 461 (2003). Additionally, he competed on the External Advocacy Moot Court team in Washington D.C. as a brief writer.  He also clerked for the Bexar County District Attorney’s office during law school.

Mr. Sanford was admitted to practice law in Texas and before the Federal District Court for the Eastern District of Texas and the Fifth Circuit. He is a member of the Jefferson County Bar Association, Texas Association of Defense Counsel, and American Bar Association.

Mr. Sanford lives in Tomball, Texas with his wife and five children. He enjoys exercising, Boy Scouting, and spending time with his “little” family.
