IRA D. WEIZEL
Ira D. Weizel is a Co-Founder of Ireson & Weizel, P.C. along with Lansford O. Ireson, Jr. in 1992. Mr. Weizel is the Managing Partner of the firm. His practice focuses on probate and estate planning, tax controversy and corporate matters.
Mr. Weizel was born in Brooklyn, New York in 1959, and is a graduate of St. John’s University (B.S. 1980) and the University of Houston Law School (J.D. 1987). Mr. Weizel is also a Public Accountant, receiving his license as a CPA in 1982. He is admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of Texas, the United States District Court, Southern District, and the United States Tax Court. Mr. Weizel is a member of the Houston Bar Association, the State Bar of Texas and the American Bar Association. Mr. Weizel’s practice includes assisting individuals and families with their estate planning and probate needs, as well as representing taxpayers in their disputes with the Internal Revenue Service at the administrative and appellate levels. He has also successfully represented many taxpayers in the United States Tax Court. Using his business background as a CPA, Mr. Weizel counsels clients on various corporate and organizational matters, and has negotiated the purchase and sale of numerous companies throughout Texas over the past 25 years. Mr. Weizel also enjoys providing assistance to non-profit organizations in their tax related matters and serves on the board of directors of several non-profit organizations, including Provision, Inc., an outstanding organization for Houston’s at-risk youth. Mr. Weizel also serves on the board of Northland Christian School and is an active member of Champion Forest Baptist Church. He resides in Spring with his amazing wife Louise and has two sons, Daniel and Steven, both students at Texas A & M University. Mr. Weizel is a sports junkie and enjoys playing basketball, tennis, racquetball and golf.
